AUD & NZD Falls After Bin Laden’s Death

The Australian and New Zealand currencies were rising on today’s trading session, but dropped sharply after the report about the death of Osama bin Laden.
US President Barack Obama said that Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been killed by the US forces during the fight outside Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The resulting gains of the American stock-index futures spurred the US dollar against commodity currencies. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index was little changed after the 0.5 percent gain.
AUD/USD fell from 1.0962 to 1.0935 today as of 20:24 GMT, following the rally to 1.1011, while NZD/USD dropped from 0.8092 to 0.8052.
