The Automated Trading Championship 2012 has come to end this Friday, December 28. It was the best ATC contest for my expert advisors and the first one where my Forex trading robot ended up with profit. Although the end results were quite worse than some of the intermediate balance peaks, my EA has managed to successfully double its starting deposit of $10,000.
Looks like my current over-optimized version of multi-currencyATR Trailer works well in many different market conditions.
My EA’s final position is . It is not much but it is a lot better than 161st, 245th, 401st and 179th final places in ATC years 2011, 2010, 2008 and 2007, respectively. Moreover, my expert advisor ended up second among the 25 participants who have shared their EAs.
The overall results of the Automated Trading Championship were rather surprising this year. The long-term first place leader ended up second just before the end of the contest. Long-term second place participant ended up on position 7 at about a week before the end of the contest, while the third place has been claimed by an EA that was in loss during the most part of the ATC.

chuliweb with end balance of $54,470.95 after 350 trades. He gets the first prize — $40,000, which is coincidentally quite close to his EA’s profit. You can read an chuliweb.
JPAlonso with end balance of $54,328.23 and 51 trades. Although his result is nearly the same as chuliweb’s, the prize is significantly smaller — $25,000. He ended up 83rd in 2011 (though his EA did not trade at all), 154th in 2010 (with a loss), 509th in 2008 (managed to get from $10,000 to $71.33) and 520th in 2007. reinhard with end balance of $45,449.15 and 39 trades. He receives a cash prize of $15,000 from the championship’s sponsors. Apparently, he did not participate in any of the previous ATC contests and little is know about him as he has not been interviewed by MetaQuotes yet. Update 2013-01-08: There is now an interview with Alexey Masterov (reinhard) available.
