The Position Size Calculator indicator for MetaTrader has received a major update in its newest version. It can now warn traders if the planned trade will trigger a stop-out event or if there is not enough money to execute such a trade. The full list of changes includes and is applicable to MT4 and MT5:
Margin display: planned position margin requirement (takes possible hedging into account), future used margin, future free margin. Will warn if future free margin is going to be lower than zero or if the stop-out level for the current account will be reached. Be advised that margin values will probably be calculated incorrectly if your broker is using floating leverage.
Warning is now displayed if stop-loss or take-profit lines are moved too close to the entry line.
Optimized account info retrieval to reduce time necessary for each position size recalculation.
All critical values are now getting correctly rounded — down or up.
All displayed values are now properly formatted and aligned.
Portfolio risk display is now off by default to reduce informational noise.
The new margin feature is optional and should be turned on (via ShowMargin input parameter) if you want to use it.
If you prefer not to use MetaTrader, you can still use the web version of the position size calculator. Unfortunately, it lacks the most interesting features of the MetaTrader version.
