Positive US Data Fails to Boost US Dollar

Most of the US macroeconomic indicators released today were good but they failed to bolster the US dollar. As a result, EUR/USD was trading sideways. Housing starts and building permits rose in April. Housing starts were at the seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.17 million, up from 1.10 million in March and compared to the median forecast of 1.12 million. Building permits were at the seasonally adjusted rate of 1.12 million, in line with expectations […]

How to Save and Load Indicator Settings in MetaTrader — Tutorial

Many MetaTrader users are struggling to work with indicators on multiple charts. They pose a reasonable question: “Is there a way to save indicator input parameters from one chart and easily load them on another?” The answer is: “Yes, it is definitely possible!” Traders often ask me about it in connection with the Position Size Calculator indicator — it has particularly many input parameters to configure; at the same […]

EUR/USD Lower Despite Dollar’s Weakness

The US dollar traded broadly lower against its major peers during Monday’s trading as the New York manufacturing index was surprisingly abysmal. Yet this did not prevent EUR/USD from moving lower. The currency pair displayed a short-lived move to the upside after the report but resumed its downside movement rather quickly. NY Empire State Index demonstrated a stunning drop, falling from 9.6 to -9.0 in May. […]

Descriptions of two new companies have been added to EarnForex.com during the week: Xtrade — a regulated Cypriot broker with proprietary trading platform, fixed spreads, $100 minimum to start trading, and up to 1:400 leverage on Forex instruments. Xtrade AAATrade — another regulated Cypriot broker but with MetaTrader 4 platform. The minimum account size is rather high — $1,000. Their maximum leverage and fixed spreads are nothing special. […]

EUR/USD Dips as US Retail Sales Rise Far Above Expectations

EUR/USD dived today after the release of US economic data. While not all the reports were good, those that were turned out to be much better than expectations. Most notably, retail sales showed the biggest growth in two years. PPI rose 0.2% in April (seasonally adjusted) after falling 0.1% in March. The increase predicted by analysts was a bit bigger — 0.3%. (Event A on the chart.) Retail sales adjusted […]

EUR/USD Trims Losses After US Data Misses Projections

EUR/USD was falling during the current trading session but trimmed losses after the release of worse-than-expected macroeconomic indicators from the United States. The currency pair still trades below the opening level as of now but far above the daily low. Initial jobless claims rose from 274k to 294k last week, exceeding the analysts’ median projection of 277k. It was the biggest number of unemployment claims since the end of February 2015. […]

EUR/USD Bounces for First Time in Six Sessions

EUR/USD rose during Wednesday’s quiet trade. With no major news, market analysts argued for the reasons for the rally. Some were saying that it was a sign that traders do not expect an interest rate hike from the Federal Reserve, while others speculated that it was just a result of profit-taking after the six-day streak of gains for the dollar. US crude oil inventories dropped by 3.4 million barrels […]

Server-Side Trailing Stop via cTrader

Spotware Systems continues to improve its retail Forex trading software — cTrader. Recently, a very interesting new feature has been added to the platform — server-side trailing stop-loss. It may sound small but it is a huge deal in fact. In MetaTrader, trailing stop is executed on the client’s side — inside the platform. Even if a trader uses some sort of expert advisor to trail the stops, it still requires the computer […]

Will Hedging and Real Ticks Backtesting Sway You Toward MT5?

In March, MetaQuotes had launched a public beta of MetaTrader 5 platform with position hedging and backtesting on real ticks. In April, the developer had pushed the modification to brokers’ demo servers. The companies can disable creation of hedging accounts in MT5 (which they mostly do). However, the feature is already there and soon will be used not only in demo accounts but also in live accounts once the necessary preparations are […]
