EUR/USD Little Changed Again

EUR/USD barely moved from its opening level during the current trading session. While the euro attempted to rally during early Wednesday’s trading, it retreated to the opening quickly. New home sales were at the seasonally adjusted annual rate of 481k in January, little changed from the revised December’s value of 482k. The actual reading was better than 471k predicted by analysts. (Event A on the chart.) Crude oil inventories increased by 8.4 […]

EUR/USD Flat After Yellen’s Testimony

EUR/USD was flat today with a slight downside bias. The dollar was not particularly strong as the testimony of Janet Yellen, Federal Reserve Chairperson, was more dovish than the market has counted on. Weak US macroeconomic indicators were not helping the greenback either. At the same time, today’s data showed that the eurozone remained in deflation, and this did not allow the euro to gain on the dollar. S&P/Case-Shiller home price […]

EUR/USD Drops After German Data, Trims Losses After US Report

EUR/USD tumbled today after the German business climate report came out worse than market participants have anticipated. (Event A on the chart.) The currency pair touched the low of 1.1295 intraday but bounced to 1.1350 later as US housing data was not impressive as well. Existing home sales fell to the seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.82 million in January (lowest since April) from the upwardly-revised 5.07 million in December, trailing […]

EUR/USD Bounces After FOMC Minutes

EUR/USD was falling today for the most part of the trading session as Greece asked its European creditors to extend the term of loan without the austerity measures attached to the bailout plan. Yet the currency pair rebounded after the FOMC released its policy minutes that turned out to be much more dovish than traders were counting on. Now, EUR/USD trades sideways. PPI dropped 0.8% in January. The drop was two […]

Negative Balance in Forex Trading

As you probably know already, there are now thousands of live Forex trading accounts with negative balance, which occurred thanks to the surprise EUR/CHF floor removal by the Swiss National Bank on January 15. Some of them have been covered at the expense of the brokers, some were left by the traders with the intent to never touch them again, some are being replenished voluntarily, while others are getting helped by the broker’s […]

EUR/USD Remains Flat

EUR/USD traded sideways following yesterday’s gains. It is a bit surprising that the currency pair did not continue to rally considering that economic news from the United States was not good while reports from the eurozone were mostly positive, especially the faster-than-expectedeconomic growth in Germany. (Event A on the chart.) US import and export prices dropped in January. Import prices were down as much as 2.8% (but still not […]
